Our Story
The idea behind RailTracking.pk was born out of a common frustration shared by countless Pakistanis: waiting on a railway platform under the blazing sun, with no reliable way to know when the train would actually show up. Scheduled times were rarely accurate, and travelers were left guessing.
Railway travel is the backbone of Pakistan's transportation network. From Karachi's sprawling metropolis to the historic streets of Peshawar, from Punjab's fertile heartland to the rugged terrain of Balochistan, trains connect communities, families, and aspirations. Yet despite this vital role, access to real-time information was virtually non-existent.
Outdated schedules, missing live updates, and widespread confusion about delays turned travel planning into a stressful ordeal. Families would spend hours at stations waiting for news about their loved ones' train. Students missed critical exams because departure times were unreliable. Professionals lost important meetings due to delays they only learned about upon reaching the platform.
We knew a better solution was possible.
In 2023, a dedicated group of software engineers and railway enthusiasts united around a single vision: to build more than just a data dashboard — a genuine travel companion. A platform that goes beyond raw coordinates and numbers to address the real concerns of travelers — the stress of an unexpected delay, coordinating a pickup at the station, or reaching an interview on time.
Months of research into Pakistan Railways' infrastructure, GPS tracking technologies, and firsthand passenger experiences shaped our approach. We engineered the platform from scratch, optimizing for the realities of Pakistan — patchy mobile networks, limited connectivity zones, users on budget devices, and the essential need for bilingual English-Urdu support.
RailTracking.pk was created to close this information gap.
